Forever Isn't Long Enough

Happy National Dog Day!

Super Dad

Happy Father's Day Weekend!

My dad is 84 years old and was a career compounding pharmacist up until just 6 months ago. He started out as a pharmacist in the ARMY and has spent over 60 years working hard every single day in the same profession. He's been the greatest example of a strong work ethic that I've ever seen (thank you Dad). He's sharp as a tack, and I dare you to try and keep up with him at a theme park, he's the youngest 84 year old I know and I'm blessed to have him in my life...he's my SUPER DAD!

Gratitude - Thank a Veteran

Have you seen the Whimsy Stamps Military Collection of card making supplies released this month? The collection covers all who currently give or have given service to this country, veterans, fallen heroes, military families, and active duty.  And it's been so popular that it keeps selling out, but don't worry more will be back in stock soon!

My card today combines many of the collections products, which were all designed to work together, or independently.

I started off by with the Military Camo rubber background stamp and used black ink on a khaki green card base.

I used the Military Dies Set and cut out 2 of the largest dog tags from silver card stock. I used the USA die that's also included in the set and cut that out of one of the silver dog tags.

I stamped the flag from the Military Heroes clear stamp set onto a khaki tan card stock then cut it out with the same dog tag die.

The sentiment (one of my favorites) was stamped on the other silver dog tag.

To complete my card, I popped up all three tags on foam tape on black card stock, then added to the card base.

Armed Forces Day

Today is Armed Forces Day which honors all currently active military branches.
You may already know the difference but in case you don't, Memorial Day honors those who were fallen in the line of duty, Veterans Day honors those who once served their country but are no longer on active duty, and Armed Forces Day honors those who are currently active.

I have designed the NEW Whimsy Stamps Military Collection of card making products in honor of our fallen heroes, active military, veterans, and for military spouses and families as well. And yes there is a day dedicated to them too, you can see a post about that HERE.

I first stamped the flag from the Military Heroes stamp set onto a khaki colored card stock. The flag comes in two separate pieces so it makes it super easy to stamp the two different colors.

I used the largest dog tag die from the Military Die Set and cut that out with the same khaki card stock, then cut out the USA portion and placed it over the flag with foam tape.

Using the same die set I cut out the 3 soldiers and also added them onto the card with foam tape.

And lastly I cut out two of the smallest dog tags from silver card stock and used a sentiment from the Military Families stamp set to heat emboss the "proud" in silver.

I threaded some silver cording through the openings and then matted onto a black card base to complete my Armed Forces Day card. The only item from the NEW Whimsy Stamps Military Collection that I didn't use on this card is the Military Camo background stamp.

A very special THANK YOU to ALL currently active military men and woman serving our country.

Best Buddies Loved Beyond Words

 That's an understatement!

I started this sweet Best Buddies card off with the new Scratchy Plaid background stamp.

I stamped it in navy ink onto a light blue background which gave this card just the right masculine feel I was looking to couple with the Best Buddies stamp set.

I stamped one of the two main images from the Best Buddies set onto Bristol cold pressed watercolor paper and used distress inks to watercolor it. Then cut it out using the Notched Rectangle die set and popped it up on foam tape.

I very lightly water colored another piece of bristol paper to stamp my sentiment on then cut it out using one of the Quick Strips dies, you all know how much I love that die set, it's a must have IMO.

To complete my card, I matted onto a navy blue card base.
This would make such a sweet Father's Day card wouldn't it?

Military Appreciation Month

May is Military Appreciation Month and includes Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day, VE Day and several other honorable recognition's.

My husband John is an ARMY veteran and I a former ARMY wife and so it was a honor and privilege to design the newly released Whimsy Stamps Military Collection

I first stamped the new Military Camo background with black ink onto a khaki green card stock

Then I used the new Military Die Set to cut out 3 of the largest dog tags and also cut out the USA on one of the dog tags.

The flag, soldier silhouette, and sentiment were all stamped using the new Military Heroes clear stamp set.

I added foam tape to the back of the USA tag and layered it on top of the tag that was stamped with the flag. Then threaded a little bit of silver cording through the holes to complete my card.
THANK YOU to ALL who serve and have served and who sacrifice for our freedoms.
God bless you.

Bike Week 2019 Kickstart My Heart

Get your motor runnin'...head out on the highway...lookin' for adventure...

It's Bike Week in Daytona Florida an event that my brother Dean has gone to pretty much every year since 1972 so I made this card for him.

I used the Biker Kickstart My Heart stamp set and first stamped the bike and colored it with Copic markers.

I masked off the bike then used the Swish Stencil and sponged on some yellow and orange inks for the background. The Swish stencil is so cool isn't it, it can look like fire or ice just by changing the colors you use.

I stamped the plaque and colored it with the same Copic markers I used on the bike. Then stamped the sentiments with black and orange inks. One of the many cool things about the Kickstart Your Heart stamp set is you can customize it with several different sayings and also dates significant to the recipient, like 1972 is totally significant to my brother.

The last thing I stamped was the checkerboard edges and I also added a little grey chalk under the tires so it gave the illusion of depth.

The Kickstart My Heart stamp set is a great set for your collection to make cards for the bikers in your life. And with the stamp set you can customize your bike and your biker cards (tee hee).
Live Free Ride Hard (and be safe...said no biker ever - lol be seriously...be safe and enjoy the ride).

Thank You Friend

The Whimsy Stamps February NEW release is hot off the press and it's filled with fun and creative stamping toys! What a great way to kick off the weekend :)!

For my post today I'm highlighting the NEW Friend Word and Shadow die. This is such a cool die, you can use it with or without the complementing You're Too Kind stamp set. And there are different combinations for the shadows. The Thanks Word and Shadow die released last month works the same way and has been so popular we had to make a matching Friend to go along with it ;).

I first stamped the Buffalo Plaid background with grey ink on a lime green card stock. Then I used the (smallest) Stitched Oval die to cut the oval. I glued the background on a black card base then adhered the oval with foam tape.

I used the You're Too Kind stamp set and heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder then I cut it out using one of the Quick Strips dies (one of my fav die sets!). I just trimmed off the left edge and glued it down flat on the card. Then added an Enamel Dot for another touch of lime green.

I cut out a white Friend shadow (the un stitched one) and the Friend word in black. Then glued that on top of the popped up oval to complete my card.

Be sure to shop the new release early because things sell out FAST!

We are constantly re-stocking items and have a "notify me" option for each product when they are back in stock.

Happy Stamping!
