bumble bee paper dolly polly

Here's Paper Dolly Polly in her cutie dutie bumble bee outfit.  This stamp set has so many options and combinations, she's so much FUN to dress up! I can't wait for you to get this set and see what I mean...check her out at Whimsy Stamps she's available now with the new July release.

I colored Polly with Copic markers and cut her out with the matching Paper Dolly Polly die set.  The sentiment was punched out using a retired SU! punch and adhered with foam tape.  I used a double stack of foam tape on Polly so she would have extra dimension.

For the shadow under her feet I made a stencil with an oval die and just sponged on some SU! basic grey ink.  The polka dotted border is from a new Whimsy set called "Polka Dot Fun" and it not only has fun polka dot stamps but also lots of useful sentiments in a super cute font...check it out here

i compel you to have a fangtastic birthday

Dracula looks like he's using his best compelling gaze to wish you a FANGtastic birthday.  This new stamp set is part of our Monster Mash Up Collection, it's called "I Compel You" and it has matching dies.  There's another humorous vampire set that released this month called "Bite Me" it too has matching dies and both sets can mix-n-match.

Our Monster Mash Up Collection is definitely NOT just for Halloween but can be used for birthday's and just for fun cards all-year round.

I started off by heat embossing Dracula with black embossing powder then coloring him with Copic markers and using the matching "I Compel You" dies to him out.

A word of caution, you can see in the photo below above Dracula's left eye some black smudges. That's what happens sometimes when you use Copics and heat embossing (it can also damage the tips of your Copics).  It doesn't happen with all embossing powders or all colors it's really hit and miss but I haven't found a black embossing powder yet that doesn't smudge.  Let me know if you have found one.

For the bat I just stamped him with Memento ink and colored it in with copics and added some highlights with a white gel pen.  I love the tight grip Dracula has holding the balloon...he's so intense - lol.

franken bad hair day

It looks like Frank is having a hard time containing his excitement in this funny birthday card made with the new Whimsy Stamps release "Franken Bad Hair Day".

I colored Frank, the cake and the hat all with Copic markers.  Then I used the matching "Franken Bad Hair Day" die set to cut them out.  The set has several fun hats for Franks chronic bad hair situation.

I left a little white on the top of Franks forehead for it to look like the light was hitting in that direction but in the photo it looks like I missed a spot - ha!
I sponged on some yellow and orange in the background to make it kind of look like fire because (insert sarcasm here) you know just how much Frankenstein loves fire.

Frank is inside the black frame for a little depth and the cake is popped up on foam tape for added dimension.  Hope you like this set...there are some pretty funny sentiments in it and if you already own the set Franken Schmutz both sets can mix and match and compliment each other wonderfully.

you suck

YAY - It's here, it's here the new release from Whimsy Stamps! And I'm excited to introduce to you one of our two new vampires from our Monster Mash Up series.
He's a vampire with an attitude
You can also see the complimenting monster mash set "Dracula - I Compel You" here.

I colored the vampire using Copic markers then fussy cut him out but if you don't like hand cutting (I can hear you groaning) we have dies for this guy that include some really cool bats too.  You can check out the Dracula Bite Me dies here.

For the background I just sponged on some distress ink.  The shadow under Drac's feet was done by making a stencil with an oval die and lightly sponging on some grey ink.  And I popped Drac up on foam tape for dimension.

The border around the edge of the card was done using a new set by Faye Wynn-Jones called "FaDoodles" you can build all kinds of doodly borders with it...super cool!

I stamped the bats and the YOU SUCK sentiment last so I could position them just right.

friends til the end

Here's Whimsy Stamps new July CAS set Friends Til the End...it's creepy cuteness.
And stay tuned for Whimsy's killer July release available July 19th!

I colored both of these cards with a combination of distress ink watercoloring and distress crayons watercoloring.

For ghost girl's dress and the inside of the background I used distress inks to watercolor them.  For the torn paper I colored that using SU! wonder color crayons which are retired now BUT you can get a similar result using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons.
Once I let everything dry I stamped the patch on her dress, the spider and sentiments with Versafine onyx ink.
The black and grey striped edge on the left side of the card is some washi tape I had in my stash.
Oh and I didn't do anything to her face or arm, I wanted a ghost white skin (lack of) tone because, well, she is a ghost after-all.

For the tattered teddy bears card I used distress ink to watercolor them then I used the scars/stitches/patch that come with the Friends Til the End set to "decorate" them.   The stitching around the edges is from a "must have" stamp set by Denise Lynn called "In Stitches" which compliments this and many of my other sets perfectly.

I cut out each bear without leaving any white border and popped each up on foam tape for dimension.

I stamped the spiders and the web then lastly sponged around the edges of each of the cards with some purple and blue ink.

Your love infects me!

"Joe Zombie" just cracks me up every time I stamp with him...can't you almost hear him groaning (lol)?!

I wanted this card to feel a little grungy so I just haphazardly blobbed on watercolors to slightly dampened watercolor paper and smooshed it (technical term) around with a wet paint brush.  Then I flicked on some dark grey watercolor for the splatters.

I colored "Joe Zombie" with Copic markers and that too was intentionally done haphazardly. I fussy cut him out and popped him up with foam tape.  I finished the card stamping the hearts and sentiment with Versafine black ink.  Dontcha just want him to give you a big smooch?!

tears speak sympathy card

You'll get a lot of sympathy card ideas on my blog.  I know it can be hard to have to make them but I also know they can mean a lot to the recipient.  They can express how much we care that we took the time to make it by hand.  My Deepest Sympathy set has many heartfelt sentiments to help you convey your sympathies.

For this card I used an oval die as a stencil and sponged on a light purple and a light pink for a soft oval background.

I stamped the tree from my Paws to Remember stamp set in a light gray.  And stamped the birds (from an old, retired stamp set, you could even draw them in ;) in a darker grey.  I didn't want black because it seemed to harsh for the softness of the card.

I finished the card by stamping the sentiment from my Deepest Sympathy set in SU! Elegant Eggplant, so it too wouldn't be too harsh.

Positively Green with Envy

I'm positively GREEN with envy, Franken Schmutz and his attitude are back again with a funny congratulations card.  Really DAHlings, this could even be a birthday card too.

I stamped Frank and water colored him using SU! garden green ink and an aquapainter on plain white cardstock.  (TIP): When using plain cardstock to watercolor it's important to not get the paper too wet or it will start to pill (breakdown) and will ruin your project.  So in this case DAHling, less is more.
I die cut Frank out using the matching Franken Schmutz dies and popped him up on foam tape.

I stamped the background with one of my favorite Whimsy stamp sets designed by Denise Lynn called "In Stitches" this set is great for accenting almost any card and is absolutely the PERFECT compliment to a Frankenstein card.

For the sentiment I stamped it with garden green ink onto the white strip then stamped it again on garden green cs with black ink, cutout the word green and adhered it with foam tape.

Flight of the Butterflies

Pink and orange is one of my go-to color combos for butterfly cards and it's one of my favorite color combos in general.  Here's a card I made with a Whimsy Stamps set called "Flight of the Butterflies".

I used a Darice embossing folder to start off with and stamped the sentiment and butterflies with black Versafine ink.

I just noticed the pink card stock (retired SU! pixie pink) border looks totally different in both photos, the photo below shows the more accurate color in real life...well on my monitor at least.

I colored the butterfly with Copic markers and fussy cut it out.  I cut off the antennae because they were too delicate to cut around and I didn't want any white edges showing.  I was going to stamp the butterfly underneath for the antenna to show but thought it looked okay without them.  What do you think?
