Celebrate Scratchy Plaid

I absolutely adore plaids and tartans and the NEW Whimsy Stamps Scratchy Plaid background stamp is quickly becoming one of my favs.

I first heat embossed the Scratchy Plaid background with Versamark clear ink and white embossing powder onto a white card matte.

Then I randomly sponged on some distress inks (mermaid lagoon and mustard seed).

On a scrap piece of white card stock I sponged on some of the same distress ink colors then used the largest shadow from the NEW Celebrate Word and Shadow die to cut it out.

Then I cut out the smaller shadow from black card stock and lastly the word from white card stock and stacked them all respectively.

The little flowers were cut from the Build a Garden die set. I lightly sponged on some more distress ink onto some scrap white card stock and cut out the smaller flowers from that. Then die cut the larger ones from black and layered them adding a pearl to each.

To complete my project I matted onto a black card base and popped up the "celebrate" word on foam tape for added dimension.
Have a great day!

Gratitude - Thank a Veteran

Have you seen the Whimsy Stamps Military Collection of card making supplies released this month? The collection covers all who currently give or have given service to this country, veterans, fallen heroes, military families, and active duty.  And it's been so popular that it keeps selling out, but don't worry more will be back in stock soon!

My card today combines many of the collections products, which were all designed to work together, or independently.

I started off by with the Military Camo rubber background stamp and used black ink on a khaki green card base.

I used the Military Dies Set and cut out 2 of the largest dog tags from silver card stock. I used the USA die that's also included in the set and cut that out of one of the silver dog tags.

I stamped the flag from the Military Heroes clear stamp set onto a khaki tan card stock then cut it out with the same dog tag die.

The sentiment (one of my favorites) was stamped on the other silver dog tag.

To complete my card, I popped up all three tags on foam tape on black card stock, then added to the card base.

Armed Forces Day

Today is Armed Forces Day which honors all currently active military branches.
You may already know the difference but in case you don't, Memorial Day honors those who were fallen in the line of duty, Veterans Day honors those who once served their country but are no longer on active duty, and Armed Forces Day honors those who are currently active.

I have designed the NEW Whimsy Stamps Military Collection of card making products in honor of our fallen heroes, active military, veterans, and for military spouses and families as well. And yes there is a day dedicated to them too, you can see a post about that HERE.

I first stamped the flag from the Military Heroes stamp set onto a khaki colored card stock. The flag comes in two separate pieces so it makes it super easy to stamp the two different colors.

I used the largest dog tag die from the Military Die Set and cut that out with the same khaki card stock, then cut out the USA portion and placed it over the flag with foam tape.

Using the same die set I cut out the 3 soldiers and also added them onto the card with foam tape.

And lastly I cut out two of the smallest dog tags from silver card stock and used a sentiment from the Military Families stamp set to heat emboss the "proud" in silver.

I threaded some silver cording through the openings and then matted onto a black card base to complete my Armed Forces Day card. The only item from the NEW Whimsy Stamps Military Collection that I didn't use on this card is the Military Camo background stamp.

A very special THANK YOU to ALL currently active military men and woman serving our country.

Adorable Otters Paper Door Kit

EAP! The NEW Adorable Otters PAPER DOOR Kit has just debuted and it truly is otterly adorable! I love otters, they're one of my favorite animals ever, especially river otters like these little guys.

I first stamped my three images, the otter, the stump and the fish on water color paper and used Faber Castell water color pencils to color everything.

I used one of the cool Wavy Stitched Squares to die-cut another piece of watercolor paper and water colored the background.

The otter and fish were cut-out by hand but I used the matching die set to die cut the stump. Look at that otter face, can you even stand it - lol?!

The fish cracks me up I think he's just playing dead -ha. I used the "steam" from the coffee cup image that's included in the Adorable Otters stamp set as a the stinky fish smell - lol.
Oh and the card base. the printed paper, and green paper are all included in the kit too.

The Whimsy Stamps PAPER DOOR kits are a crazy good value, this kit has close to $60 in retail value for only $29.95! Don't wait, I warn you every 10th of the month, these puppies sell-out FAST!

Military Spouse Appreciation Day

Did you know that the Friday before Mother's Day every year is Military Spouse's Appreciation Day? We all thank our veterans and rightfully so but their families give to their country too.

If you know anyone who is married to an active military member the new Military Families stamp set is perfect for cards to let them (and other family members) know you appreciate their sacrifices too.

I started with a red card base and rounded the bottom corners.

Then I added a slightly shorter white matte on top that was edged with hearts from the Straight Edgers dies. I love this die set, it has 8 different edging options for just the right amount of that little extra "something" needed.

Using the Military Families clear stamp set, I stamped the stars portion of the heart with blue ink (the heart comes in two pieces so it's super easy for two different colors). And the stripes with red ink. The heart is even more versatile as two separate pieces as you can see in this case I decided not to connect them so I could stamp the sentiment "dividing" them.

I added the completed stamped portion onto a glitter blue cardstock and popped up the stars portion of the heart on foam tape for a little dimension.

THANK YOU to all the military spouses around the world. I know first hand, even many years later, how hard the waiting can be.

Best Buddies Loved Beyond Words

 That's an understatement!

I started this sweet Best Buddies card off with the new Scratchy Plaid background stamp.

I stamped it in navy ink onto a light blue background which gave this card just the right masculine feel I was looking to couple with the Best Buddies stamp set.

I stamped one of the two main images from the Best Buddies set onto Bristol cold pressed watercolor paper and used distress inks to watercolor it. Then cut it out using the Notched Rectangle die set and popped it up on foam tape.

I very lightly water colored another piece of bristol paper to stamp my sentiment on then cut it out using one of the Quick Strips dies, you all know how much I love that die set, it's a must have IMO.

To complete my card, I matted onto a navy blue card base.
This would make such a sweet Father's Day card wouldn't it?
