Morticia Addams Meets Winter Roses

They're creepy and they're kooky, mysterious and spooky, they're altogether ooky...
The Addams Family
Da Da Da Dum (snap snap)

I started my Morticia card off with a black Wavy Stitched Square for the card base and a white one for the main image. I just love how the wavy squares mimic the shape of her curves don't you?!

For the background, I sponged on red ink the the center of the Winter Roses rubber stamp then carefully patted just around the edges with a black ink pad

I stamped Morticia (with black ink of course), colored her lips blood red, and hand cut her out

Then I stamped the bats and sentiment.
I love all things Gothic and Morticia Addams is the epitome of gothic...she would never be caught DEAD wearing pastels!

Morticia is one of my favorite new stamp sets, I think I must be related to the Addams's ;).
Do you know the name of Morticia's carnivorous pet plant? I'll give you a hint, the name is from ancient Egypt.
And her other house plants include hemlock, poison ivy, and roses (for their thorns).

Slimline Build a Pumpkin Farm

HAPPY first day of Fall (eve)...my most favorite season.
And to kick off my favorite season I have another slimline card to share with you today.

These three new and innovative Slimline dies from Whimsy Stamps have opened a whole new world for carding. I can't stop making tall and skinny cards with them!

I used the new Slimline Marquee die and cut it out twice, once from kraft card stock and again from a light blue card stock.

I used the Build a Farm die set and cut the tractor out from watercolor paper and used distress inks to watercolor it. And I used one of the clouds from the same die set as a puff of smoke coming out of the tractor stack ;).

The fence is also from the Build-a-Farm die set and the stamped trees are from the Bundled Up clear stamp set.

The sentiment is from the Polka Dot Fun clear stamp set  which is being retired.

All the pumpkins on my card are from the NEW Build-a-Pumpkin Patch die set, this is such a great collection of Fall shapes in a variety of sizes. I cut all of them from orange card stock and sponged the edges, then used markers to color the stems.

I added foam tape to the kraft piece and layered it on top of a chocolate brown card base, I stamped the trees and sentiment and added all the blue pieces flat inside the openings. Then I added all of my die cut elements.

My previous post (below) gives details about dimensions for this size card.

Have you tried the Slimline dies yet? There are three different styles to choose from and all of them are so much fun...I hope you are enjoying them as much as I am?!
Happy FALL Ya'll!

NEW Exclusive Slimline Dies!

Are you loving the slimline card making trend that's all the rage right now but can't find any dies for them? Well I have your answer because Whimsy Stamps is the first company to release 3 NEW Slimline dies made exclusively for slimline card making!
I can't tell you how excited I am about these innovative new dies, they have really refreshed my card making and I can't stop making slimline cards with them-lol.
Here's my first project using the Slimline Postage die...

If you're not familiar with the slimline card size here's how I make mine...
I start with an 8.5 x 11 piece of card stock and cut it down to 8.5 x 7 then fold that in half to create a 8.5 x 3.5 card base. You will have a left over piece that is 8.5 x 4 which is a perfectly sized piece to cut out your slimline die - it's brilliant!

For this card I actually didn't use the left over piece though, I decided to cut a black Slimline postage frame instead.

I stamped the Penguin Poop penguins on white card stock, colored them with Copic markers
and adhered to each of the Slimline Postage openings. I could have (and should have) cut out the die from white card stock and stamped the penguins on those 4 postage pieces but I had my "practice coloring" done and thought it looked okay so I just went ahead and used those. Oh well, I guess I just have to make another slimline card now...twist my arm - ha!

Once I had my penguins placed behind the frame openings I simply added it to my slimline card front and called it done. Oh wait, I did also color and cut out the balloon and popped it up on foam tape and drew the string with a marker.

You can find all three Slimline dies from Whimsy Stamps and open a whole new, fresh and fun door to your card making.
Oh and BTW, this size card will fit inside a legal sized envelope with a little bit of room left over so there's no need to find special sized envelopes either...easy peasy :).
Have a great day.
