Kind Butterflies

Sharing a thank you card with you today using the NEW Butterflies clear stamp set from Whimsy Stamps.

For the green splattered background I used a spray bottle and mixed in a little green acrylic paint with  quite a bit of water, shook it real well and spritzed it onto a heavy weight white card stock. Tip: don't over saturate the card stock. You could also use watercolor paper instead of regular card stock then you wouldn't have to worry about over saturation.

For the Butterflies I started by sponging a few different colors of distress ink randomly onto white card stock, then stamped both butterflies with black ink and fussy them out.

For the larger butterfly I was able to cut out the antennae but on the smaller one they were too delicate so I just cut them off entirely and drew them on with a black marker after attaching it to the card.

I used the You're Too Kind stamp set for the sentiment, then added the super cool Connected Oval die around it and matted onto a black card base.

For the final touches I used a small strip of the black and white striped paper from the gorgeous NEW Fabulous Florals 6x6 paper pack (one of my new favs). And lastly added a little glitter to the Butterflies wings.

Life goes on but...

There's a very special new release from Whimsy Stamps that has a lot of meaning for me. I designed the stamp sets soon after my sister passed away in November through many tears (you can read more about that HERE). I hope you find the sentiments to be unique, and deeply heartfelt too.

I had no idea when designing this set just how much it would also apply to what every person on this planet is currently experiencing.

Handmade sympathy cards can be difficult ones to make, but they truly mean so much to their recipients. And with the new Fabulous Florals patterned papers, and the two new sympathy sets, you can make sympathy cards that are both quick, and heartfelt.

It took me all of 5 minutes to make this card but I think it's every bit as pretty as ones I've spent an hour or more making.
I simply cut out the section I wanted from this pretty piece of Fabulous Florals paper and matted it onto a black card base.

Then I stamped the main "Life Goes On" sentiment directly onto the patterned paper.

I stamped the other two sentiments on white card stock and just cut them to the size I wanted, popping the top one up with foam tape...and the card was done. Maybe not even 5 minutes.

The sentiments in the "Life Goes On" stamp set (like most of my stamp sets) can be changed around to create many different sentiment options. And they are not-so-common, heartfelt sentiments that speak to deep grief.

Wonderful Circles Birthday

Isn't this a fun and cheerful birthday card? It was super easy to do using the Circles, Circles, Circles clear stamp set and one of my favorite color combos.

I started out with a white card matte and randomly stamped the med and smaller solid colored circles first. I wanted a larger solid circle than was in the stamp set so I just die cut the smallest Pierced and Stitched Circle from foam and that is what made the largest pink and blue solid dots.

But I definitely needed the Circles, Circles, Circles stamp set for those cool different sized outlined circles, which I randomly stamped all with black ink. There's no right or wrong pattern, just do what you like.

For the sentiment I used the You're My Favorite stamp set on white card stock and matted it onto a black strip.

Then I added everything onto a black card base to complete my card.
Hope you have a WONDERFUL day!

Fresh Friday Happy Place

Hey there and happy almost weekend!
Today I have another Fresh Friday post for you using the Happy Place clear stamp set.

For the background layer I used the Messy Mesh rubber stamp with yellow ink and stamped it onto a white card mat. If you follow my blog, you know how much I *LOVE* using background stamps, and the Messy Mesh, like so many other Whimsy backgrounds gives just the right amount of texture.

I cut out the largest of the Basic Stitched Ovals dies from Bristol watercolor paper, and stamped the Happy Place image with Versafine black ink.

Then watercolored the scene with Tim Holtz Distress inks. No mater what new product comes along I always seem to come back to this...my favorite way to watercolor.

Once the image was colored, I stamped the sentiment with black Versafine ink.

Then matted onto a brown card base to complete my little Happy Place scene.
Hope you have a great weekend and be sure to check out Whimsy blog for additional Fresh Friday ideas.
