Stained Glass Sentiments and Cancer SUCKS!

I sent this card to a friend who lost her Grandmother this past year to cancer, and I'm posting it now to share that I lost my beautiful sister Elizabeth in November to cancer too. And just 5 days after her funeral I found out I have skin cancer and had surgery in December. That's why I haven't been posting on my blog for the last two months. While I had the honor of being my sisters caregiver for her first two battles with cancer and now for her 3rd and final battle, my life is forever changed without her in my world.
I am devastated.

If you want to read a more about how cancer has affected my family, you can read this post HERE

I will be posting more regularly again soon but please bear with me as the posts may be sporadic for a while. I'm sharing this card with you today because, well, I feel that the sentiment speaks for itself.

Thank you to all my wonderful card making friends, and followers who have been so loving and supportive during one of the most awful and difficult times of my life. I can't say enough what it means to me. Thank you for letting me share this very personal and emotional time with you.

I wanted to keep this card clean an simple so that the sentiment was prominent. So I started with sponging on yellow and orange inks onto the Mini Cloud Background stamp and stamped it onto plain white card stock. Then just cut it out without leaving any border around it.

I stamped the Stained Glass Sentiment in the bottom right area on top of the clouds.
I used the Shaker Maker Rectangle die set and cut out a black frame and placed it over the sentiment. I like how this gives the illusion of the background being two pieces but it's not.

To complete my card I added cut a piece of an Adhesive Foam Sheet to the back and placed it on a white card base.

I'm usually a very private person, but life is short and I want to be sure that I let you all know just how much I appreciate all the love and support you've shown me.
THANK YOU from the bottom of my broken heart.
And I hope 2020 is a HEALTHY and HAPPY one for all of us.
Good riddance 2019!

  10. Oh hunny, you've been in my heart so much. There are no words to comfort this kind of pain. There is no making sense of this tragedy. It is honestly one of the most humbling, heartbreaking and draining roles to play in life, that of a carer to a terminally ill person. It takes a little bit of you piece by piece. But for all the pain you will have endured, I hope you are left with beautiful memories of happier times. Grieve, scream, cry, do what you need to do to navigate your journey with this heartbreak and I send you so much love from my little corner of the world. Hugs, Wends xoxo

  15. Deb, I have been formulating what to say since I got your email last week telling us about your beautiful angel of a sister, Elizabeth. Cancer does suck and I have been keeping you in my prayers. I just lost my father in early October due to cancer. I won't go into details, but it was his third bout with a different type of cancer. I am thankful he is out of pain now and so is your sister. They are both in a better place and I am hopeful that your loving memories of your sister, will carry you forth til you see her again. Take this time in your recovery to do for yourself what you gave up while caring for her. The strain you experienced while caring for her was great and I am sure you handled it well but it is super stressful! So try to focus on you now and what you need to do to heal. I hope that the surgery for you, went well and that you have been cleared!
I enjoyed your card and the sentiment on your condolence card and it is true. God is with you and your sister during this difficult time and will help to heal your sadness and loss.
God Bless you and remember, we all love you and are here for you, rooting for you every day!

    1. Dear Liz, what a caring, and compassionate reply to my post, thank you very much. My heart sank when I read that your father died in October to this horrible disease, and I'm sending you my deepest sympathy too. It's an awful "club" to belong to but I don't know of anyone who has been excluded from in in one way or another. Thank you too for your prayers, I am extending mine to you and your family as well. Thank you for being so kind, I'm sure your dad is proud of you. With heartfelt thanks, Deb
