Haunted Graveyard Slimline

I couldn't be more excited about our Halloween releases this season. Over-all there will be a total of  FIVE Halloween mini releases and each one is complementary to the next making it our largest and most coordinated Halloween release to date...YAY for so much Halloween card making FUN!

Don't miss a thing, check out all the Halloween card making goodies at Whimsy Stamps.
And don't FEAR, some things have and are selling out very quickly but they are available for pre-order so you'll be sure to get them once we re-stock.

I absolutely love "Haunted" things and this release is all about haunted that's for sure. Just look at the newest 6x6 paper pack, it's even named "Haunted" and I used one of my favorite sheets as the focal point of my haunted graveyard card.
I simply cut the piece of Haunted paper to 3.5" and glued it to the front of a blue slimline card base.

I used the BOO die set and cut out a couple of ghosties from vellum and tucked them peeking out behind the paper.

I die cut the "shivers" word from the Chills Word die set three times from a light blue cardstock.

I stacked and glued all three of the words on top of one another for added stability and dimension. I do this pretty much with all my word dies. It's a little extra work but the result in real life is worth it.

To complete my haunted graveyard scene, I die cut two of the largest fences from the Build-a-Graveyard die set and glued them the each end of the card.

I LOVE the new Build-a-Graveyard, and complementing Grave Epitaphs clear stamp set...stay tuned for a post using both of these fun products.

And that's it, a quick Halloween card that could send shivers down anyone's spine :)!

Day of the Dead Shaker Card

Dia de Muertos - DAY OF THE DEAD
(quoted from dayofthedead.holiday page)...

Day of the Dead is a 2-day holiday that reunites the living and the deceased. Families create offerings to honor their departed family members that have passed away. These alters are decorated with bright yellow marigold flowers, photos of the departed, and the favorite food and drinks of the one being honored. The offerings are believed to encourage visits from the land of the dead as the departed souls hear their prayers, smell their food, and join in the celebrations.

For today's card I first die cut out the largest Wavy Stitched Square four different times, once from white card stock, once from orange card stock, and twice from yellow card stock.

I went over the entire white cardstock with copic BV000. Then I stamped the Day of the Dead Frame and colored it with
Copic markers: W0, W1, W2, YR30, YR23, Y00, C0, C2

I used the (third smallest) Wavy Stitched Square to die cut out the center opening then stamped the Sugar Skull Cuties sentiment with black ink.  I glued the sentiment to the center of one of the yellow Wavy square paying attention to placement.

I prepared my shaker by adhering clear acetate behind the opening, filled the center with Creepy Sprinklets and Ink Blot Sparklets then added foam tape to the frame and secured it.
(the flowers and yellow sequins in the shaker mix are from a retired Sparklets pack)

To complete my Day of the Dead card, I used my paper trimmer to cut an orange wavy frame and a yellow wavy frame both in half and adhered just half to the top of the card and half to the bottom then adhered it to a 4x4 card base.

Have a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend!
