gothic pink halloween

Here's another non-traditional pink and black Halloween card which is really one of my favorite color combos Halloween or not.  You can take a peek at a Paper Dolly Polly post HERE that's also pink and black for Halloween.

For this card I used a (really, really old) retired SU! background and stamped it on pink cardstock then sponged on some black ink to make it look all grungy.  I used the spider web and spider from the Tim Burton-ish, "Friends Till the End" set and sponged on more ink around the edges of the grey mat.

The pink "SPOOKY" is from Whimsy's NEW Sleepy Hollow die set and the SKULL is from Dracula's Coffin die set which are both killer dies (killer dies - lol).  To finish the card I put a piece of silver glitter paper behind the skull so it would show through his eyes and nose then popped him up with foam tape for dimension.   Let's see your pink and black Halloween projects...have FUN!

twisted tree of death at sleepy hollow

Sleepy Hollow is not only notorious for the Headless Horseman but also for his twisted tree of death.  Whimsy's new Sleepy Hollow Collection includes a really cool twisted, spooky tree and I've altered it on this project for the illusion of an even bigger tree.

I used a SU! embossing folder (called seaside) for the white background then I die cut the Sleepy Hollow tree a couple of times and cut one tree in half to "stretch" it.  Then I used the branches from the second tree and cut off piece and arranged them until I liked how it looked,  I glued down all the piece then covered it with the main image.

The purple background on the circle was sponged on and I sponged on a little grey ink for the shadow under the crows feet.

I was playing with the colors in photoshop and think this card would look cool in a black and white version too.

enjoy the ride with the headless horseman

The Headless Horseman rides again!  Wouldn't this make a great Fall birthday card?!  Check out all the other cool sentiments in the Sleepy Hollow Collection HERE

You know I like quick and easy cards and this definitely falls into that category.  I just sponged on some black ink around a stitched rectangle, stamped the images and added some baker's twine.

I added a little black ink under the horse and jack-o-lantern, matted it on a craft cardstock and popped it up with foam tape onto a black card base.

What a great birthday card (especially for a guy) for a Fall birthday or really any month of the year...who doesn't think the Headless Horseman is killer cool any time of the year?!

Okay are you ready for these really hard instructions, brace yourself!  Stamp the crows and sentiment.

add a little chalk under the crows for a shadow.  Tie on your ribbon.  DONE.

friends til the end...sheee's baaaack!

"Friends Til the End" is now available at Whimsy Stamps!  Our little ghostly girl was the super popular CAS set last month, you can read about that HERE.   And here she is again along with her tattered little teddy bear friend too.

I watercolored this card using distress inks and a semi dry technique.  I didn't wet the paper first I just used a damp brush and added a little bit of water when I needed it.  But for the most part this was not a super wet watercolor.  I added LOTS of different layers and I wanted it to look vintagy but with the pops of color so I think it worked out just as I wanted it to.

This set comes with a few different scars and patches so you can get creative tattering up the teddy bear or the dress or her face/arms etc.  I fussy cut the teddy bear and popped him up on foam tape.  I stamped the cob webs/spider and sentiment with Versafine black ink (my fav).  I left her eyes and teeth ghost white :o).

Grim Reaper

Awww isn't he cute?!  Not really something one would say about the Grim Reaper but this guy really is kind cute dontcha think?  This card could easily be a birthday card too, check out the other funny sentiments in this new Whimsy Stamps set HERE.

For the background I used distress inks and did a watercolor wash technique and before it was dry I held the paper at an angle and let the colors blend into themselves.

attempted murder meets sleepy hollow

I have five Halloween/Fall-ish sets that released this month for Whimsy Stamps and they're all combinable with one another.  I'll be showing you lots of posts over the next several days using primarily these five Tim Burton-ish, Sleepy Hollow, Grim, Gothic and Autumn stamps sets for all your Halloween and fall card-making fun.

I first made a stencil with a cloud die and sponged on light blue ink to create the sky.  Then I stamped the fence from the Attempted Murder set and colored it with Copic markers.  This fence is designed so you can keep extending it to make it as long as you want it to be.
I stamped the pumpkins and jack-o-lantern head, colored all with Copics and fussy cut them out.  The scarecrow was cut using the Sleepy Hollow matching dies set.  No way was I going to try and fussy cut around his straw fingers!

The grass was done using Copics and a flicking technique, I first flicked in all the grass then added the pumpkins and did more flicking on top of them so it looks more natural than just two blobs sitting out in front of the card.

The scarecrow in the Sleepy Hollow set has a different head which has a meanie face which of course has his place (you'll see him in other posts) but for this card I wanted a happier punkin' head so I used the one from the Headless Horseman set instead.  Remember, everything works together so you have oodles of options.

The trees and leaves were stamped and colored with Copics and then last but not least the AUTUMN sentiment was stamped to complete my card.

a murder of crows

The collective noun for a large grouping of crows is called a "MURDER".  So that was the inspiration for this new Whimsy Stamps set called "Attempted Murder".
Get it?!...  SNORT!  Come on you know it's FUNNY...only two crows...attempted murder...I hear you laughing!

This was a quick and easy card, like 10 whole minutes.  I made a "stencil" with a cloud die and sponged on a couple different blue inks to create the sky.  Then I stamped the branches and leaves with espresso brown ink and colored the leaves with copic markers.

The crows and sentiment were stamped with my favorite black ink Versafine for a nice crisp solid black.  Then I matted onto a black card base.   Did I say 10 minutes...okay maybe it was really more like 9.

the headless horseman rides

It's NEW RELEASE WEEK at Whimsy Stamps and I'm SUPER excited to debut my Sleepy Hollow Collection, two stamp sets and two die sets (and 3 other sets too!).  There's lots of various options with these 4 products.  The headless horseman and the spooky tree are two different sizes for more versatility, both are smaller in the stamp sets and both are larger in the dies sets. You can tell by the package, if a die cuts out an image it will appear as an outline and if it is solid it's a complimentary die.  Check them out, you know I like to give us lots of options :o)!  ENJOY!

For this card I started with a white card base and cut a large paper circle mask for the giant moon.  I heavily sponged around the mask using Baja, Not Quite Navy, Night of Navy and Elegant Eggplant SU! inks.  I just held the (copy paper) mask down tightly and sponged around it but you could also adhere it using a repositional adhesive such as Dotto for extra security.

I cut the "hill" using the Stitched Border Dies and used it to make a pencil line to help me know where to stamp the cornstalks which were stamps in Versafine black.

Then I used white embossing powder to emboss the Sleepy Hollow sentiment and glued it flat on the card base.

To complete my card I die cut the Headless Horseman and glued him flat, in the center of the moon.
I love this Sleepy Hollow Collection, it turned out exactly how I envisioned it in my "head".
