So Deeply Sorry

It's such a terrible time for the whole world right now, so many people are dying from this awful virus. April 2, 2020 had the largest death toll in the USA since the outbreak. This card is for all of those who have endured the loss of a loved one through this awful time in our history. And also for those who have had loss from other things during this time too. I'm so deeply sorry.

Life goes on but...

There's a very special new release from Whimsy Stamps that has a lot of meaning for me. I designed the stamp sets soon after my sister passed away in November through many tears (you can read more about that HERE). I hope you find the sentiments to be unique, and deeply heartfelt too.

I had no idea when designing this set just how much it would also apply to what every person on this planet is currently experiencing.

Stained Glass Sentiments and Cancer SUCKS!

I sent this card to a friend who lost her Grandmother this past year to cancer, and I'm posting it now to share that I lost my beautiful sister Elizabeth in November to cancer too. And just 5 days after her funeral I found out I have skin cancer and had surgery in December. That's why I haven't been posting on my blog for the last two months. While I had the honor of being my sisters caregiver for her first two battles with cancer and now for her 3rd and final battle, my life is forever changed without her in my world.
I am devastated.

If you want to read a more about how cancer has affected my family, you can read this post HERE

I will be posting more regularly again soon but please bear with me as the posts may be sporadic for a while. I'm sharing this card with you today because, well, I feel that the sentiment speaks for itself.

Thank you to all my wonderful card making friends, and followers who have been so loving and supportive during one of the most awful and difficult times of my life. I can't say enough what it means to me. Thank you for letting me share this very personal and emotional time with you.

Scripture Splash

Today I'm sharing a card from the Whimsy Stamps June release using the Stained Glass Scriptures and Splash clear stamp sets. I started out using distress inks to water color my background then used a heat tool to dry it (because I can never wait for it to dry on its own).  Once it was dry I stamped the waves and splash with Archival black ink.  Then went back and added extra color to to waves and splash with more distress ink after I stamped it.

On a separate piece of watercolor paper I stamped the sailboat and colored with distress inks.  Once dry (yep, with a heat tool ;) I hand cut it out and popped it up on the sail only with foam tape.  I did the same with the clouds too.

I decided where I wanted everything to be positioned and then stamped the Stained Glass Scripture after I adhered the sailboat and clouds.  To complete the card I glued the finished scene onto a black card base.

I just like how this card "feels", I hope you like it too.

Rainbow Bridge meets Cute Cupid

I believe the place where Rainbow Bridge and Heaven meet is where we get to reunite with our furbabies and walk or run (or float if you prefer ;) into heaven together.

My Rainbow Bridge collection from Whimsy Stamps has expanded to include two new sets in this months release and two more releasing next month.  I know it stinks that we even need these cards in the first place but it's nice to have so many heartfelt options to choose from.  And many of the sets in the collection have fun, non-sympathy options incorporated into them too.  For today's post here's a sweet little kitty from the new set A Girls Best Friend and I combined it with Cute Cupid to make her an angel.

I stamped the little kitty, the wings and halo with Memento black ink and colored them with my Copic markers.  I love working with grey Copics, both the cool and the warm ones, these are the cool ones I used on this card C1, C3, C5, C7.

I used the flicking method to make the kitty look like a tabby and gave her a big pink nose ;o)

The wings and halo are from the Cute Cupid stamp set and matching dies that were released last month and I added some glitter to both for some angelic sparkle.
I heat embossed the sentiment with detail white embossing powder on some grey cardstock and put everything onto a plain pink cardstock background and mounted onto a grey card base.

tears speak sympathy card

You'll get a lot of sympathy card ideas on my blog.  I know it can be hard to have to make them but I also know they can mean a lot to the recipient.  They can express how much we care that we took the time to make it by hand.  My Deepest Sympathy set has many heartfelt sentiments to help you convey your sympathies.

For this card I used an oval die as a stencil and sponged on a light purple and a light pink for a soft oval background.

I stamped the tree from my Paws to Remember stamp set in a light gray.  And stamped the birds (from an old, retired stamp set, you could even draw them in ;) in a darker grey.  I didn't want black because it seemed to harsh for the softness of the card.

I finished the card by stamping the sentiment from my Deepest Sympathy set in SU! Elegant Eggplant, so it too wouldn't be too harsh.

heartfelt sympathy

This card came together pretty quickly.  the scroll frame is from Memory Box and I just glued that onto a retired SU! purplie-blue (can't remember the name) card base and I cut an oval out of the same cs and popped that up with dimensional tape.

I cut the sympathy die once out of vanilla card stock and once out of black fun foam.  I glued the vanilla onto the black fun foam which gives a nice slight shadow effect and dimension without having to layer 3-4 die cuts together to achieve a similar result.  The fun foam tip is one of my favorites.

I stamped the sentiments after I applied the die cut.

Memorial Day With Deepest Sorrow

Lavender is not one of my favorite scents but I love how it looks, it's so pretty in a vase or pitcher and just breathtaking in a open field,  Denise Lynn captured that beauty when creating this Whimsy Stamps set called "Lovely Lavender".   And I thought it appropriate to post this sympathy card for Memorial Day weekend honoring all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

I used a retired SU! embossing folder for the border around the vanilla card base.  And die cut a simple oval for the image.

By using markers I was able to selectively color areas of the lavender flowers stamp with SU! elegant eggplant and old olive markers.  Then I stamped (slightly off the edge) onto the oval and without re-applying ink I stamped it again in a different area for a lighter result.  I repeated that process a second time but I stamped onto scrap paper first then stamped just the lighter one on the oval.  It's the one dark, two lighter stampings that gives a little depth to the flowers.

To finish the card I used the same SU! ink (Elegant Eggplant) and sponged color around the oval.  Then I stamped the sentiment from my "Deepest Sympathy" set using Old Olive SU! ink and put the oval on with foam tape for dimension.
