St. Patrick's Day Build a Basket

Top o' the mornin' to ya and HAPPY St. Patrick's Day!

The Build a Basket die set has lots of different elements and for my card today I decided to make a pot-o-gold with it for St. Patrick's Day. Keep reading to find a couple of quick tips about how I made gold coins and the handles on the pot.

I die-cut the black kettle and sponged on a little white ink around the edges. Then (tip 1) I used the bow from the die set to make the handles, brilliant huh - lol.  I cut the shamrock out of  green Glitter Tape by (tip 2) first sticking the tape to a piece of cardstock then cutting it out with the shamrock die. Then did the same thing with gold Glitter Tape and cut out a bunch of coins.

I used the new Pierced and Stitched Circle die set for the white circle and stamped the sentiment from the Shamrock Swirl clear stamps set. Then I adhered the kettle with foam tape and added a few extra coins "falling" off the side.

I added a strip of the gold Glitter Tape down the left side of a white card base.  Then stamped the Buffalo Plaid background with black ink onto green card stock and added that on top. 

The Build a Basket is really fun to work with and there are a bunch of different was to use it. I'm already thinking of a Halloween cauldron and of course there are lots of ideas for spring/Easter and just an everyday basket with flowers...so many ideas for one die set!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Top-o-the-mornin' to ya!  I hope your St. Patrick's Day is filled with many blessings.  

Today I have for you an easy card celebrating this fun holiday using the Holiday Occasions stamp set and Flower Flourish stencil.

I used green ink to sponge on the Flower Flourish stenciled background onto white paper.  Then I cut it out with a stitched border die.

I heat embossed the sentiment from the Holiday Occasions set with gold embossing powder, this is a really great multi-holiday set for your collection.  

I cut the sentiment out using a spellbinders label die then cut a second label die in black.  I cut out the center portion of the black label and taped each left over piece to the back of of the white label on each side to give it an little extra pop.

The top hat was heat embossed with black embossing powder and I used a gold sharpie to color in the buckle.  I fussy cut it out and attached it directly to the sentiment.

I matted onto a black card base and popped up the sentiment on foam tape for added dimension.

St. Patty's Day Love and Laughter

Here's a bright-n-cheery St. Patty's Day card filled with wishes of love and laughter using the Shamrock Swirls stamp set and Sun Rays stencil.  Happy St.Patty's Day Eve ;o)

I sponged on some bright yellow ink using the Sun Rays stencil then added extra sponging at the bottom portion.

I stamped the shamrock with green ink and die cut it out using a heart die that's in the Crazy for Chocolate die set.  I then die cut a second heart in black using the same die.  I cut the black heart down the center (yikes that sentence sounded scary) so I could "stretch it" then taped it to the back of the white heart to create a layered effect.

The sentiment was stamped using black Versafine ink (my fav for detail).  Then I matted everything onto a black card base.  For a finishing touch I added a single diamond gemstone in the center of the clover.

Shamrock Swirl Wishes

I know it still feels like winter in some places but spring is just around the corner and with it I have some shamrock wishes to share with you today.  This stamp set really lives up to it's name of Shamrock Swirl and I thought it was just screaming for an embossing watercolor technique.

First I heat embossed the big shamrock with white embossing powder on the watercolor paper card base and then again on a separate pieces of watercolor paper.

Then I wet down both papers generously with plain water and used SU! reinkers (pumpkin pie and gumball) to float ink onto the images.  Then I used a heat tool to make it dry faster.

I fussy cut out the greener shamrock and popped it up on foam tape.  The sentiment was stamped with black versafine ink.  And everything was matted onto a black card base.

This is one of my favorite techniques and the Shamrock Swirl is a perfect set for it.  I hope all your shamrock wishes come true!
