Hilarious Grumpy Holidays

Have you seen the newly released Grumpy Holidays stamp set yet?  If you haven't I'd run over to the Whimsy Store and grab him up because they can't keep them in stock.
This grumpy guy has become an overnight celebrity - lol.

For this card I used a combination of distress inks and SU! inks to watercolor everything.  I don't always list my colors because my painting process is often quite hap hazard as was the case with this card.  I find the more I try and be precise and controlling the worse the outcome, so I just slap color on as I'm going and don't typically plan it out in advance.  And by the time I'm done I have forgotten what colors I used.

For the background I taped off the edges and wet the Canson cold pressed watercolor paper generously with plain water.  Then I used a wet paint brush loaded with a single green color and just touched color on here and there and let it float where ever it wanted.  Then I used a second yellow/green color to do the same and finally a third aqua/blue color.  I used a heat tool to dry it because I rarely have the patience to let something dry on its own.

The grumpy dog (what should we name him...I'm thinking maybe Spike or Butch?) was also water colored on Canson cold pressed water color paper but I used SU! ink and reinkers on totally dry watercolor paper leaving a lot of white space with the exception of his Rudolph red nose.  then I added shadows where I wanted them with some grey ink/watercolor.  All three images were fussy cut and I popped up the dog and present with foam tape.  The sentiment was stamped with Versafine black ink and the card was mounted onto a black card base for framing.
