I Vant to Vish You a Happy Birthday

Look into my eyes, I Vant to Vish you a Happy Birthday...Bleh, Bleh, Bleh!

How fun is this Dracula I Compel You birthday card, for all your Fall birthday people?! Or for that matter any time of the year for any of your friends and family who are Dracula/Vampire fans (that's me!)

I started off by stamping the Doveart Brick Background grey on grey and cut out the center with the Stitched Oval die set. I added foam tape to the back and put it onto a purple card base.

I stamped and colored the bat balloon and Dracula was heat embossed with black embossing powder then both images were cut out using the matching Dracula I Compel You die set

I wanted Drac's skin to look translucent, so I colored his face with a lavender Copic marker then used a Copic colorless blender to take off some of the color
I used a red pen to draw in the veins on his eyes

I stamped the sentiment last and popped Drac and his bat up on foam tape for added dimension

I also vant to vish you a HAPPY HALLOWEEN it's my favorite day of the year!

Franken Schmutz Brains

I made this card for my BESTIE Donna who recently graduated with a degree in histology.  I admire her so much for going back to school and starting a new career.  She graduated the very same month that her daughter graduated from high school (congrats to you too Maddie :O).  LOVE you both!

You may be asking yourself why Franken Schmutz combined with a Joe Zombie sentiment is the perfect match for Donna's card?  Well first she and I share a LOVE for all things Halloween, macabre, horror, etc., second histology is all sciency and stuff and she'll be working in a LaBORatory and third she is really, really wicked smaaat.

The "Really DAHLING" sentiment and Frank are from the Franken Schmutz set and the "I love you for your brains" is from the Joe Zombie set (Joe is on sale at the time of this posting).

The doodles are from the FaDoodles Too set by the fabulous Faye Wynn-Jones. And I also used the new Notched Rectangle die set.

I also used the Franken Schmutz die set to die cut Frank and added some brads (or should I say bolts) from my stash.
CONGRATS again Donna love you SO MUCH! XOXOOOO

Is it Halloween yet?

Halloween is my favorite holiday and I often feel like Frank does in the card below.  At least he has a  nice hat to cover up his Franken Bad Hair Day

I colored everything with Copic markers and used the matching Franken Bad Hair Day dies to cut everything out.  I used a white gel pen on the bat balloon to add the eyes and highlight marks.

Frank's body is glued down on the card but his head is popped up on foam tape.  The sentiment was heat embossed with white embossing powder (And, I just noticed that I forgot to put the question and exclamation marks at the end of my sentiment.  DER.).  I also added two orange "summer breeze" enamel dots at the top right corner for just a little added color and balance.

Grim Reaper

Awww isn't he cute?!  Not really something one would say about the Grim Reaper but this guy really is kind cute dontcha think?  This card could easily be a birthday card too, check out the other funny sentiments in this new Whimsy Stamps set HERE.

For the background I used distress inks and did a watercolor wash technique and before it was dry I held the paper at an angle and let the colors blend into themselves.

what the fang?!

You can check out all the funny sentiments in the "Bite Me" set that go great for the inside of this card here.  And see the complimenting vampire set "I Compel You" here for even more fun options.

I started with a Tim Holtz embossing folder for the card base to make this super easy card.

Then I stamped the lips in real red ink, brushed on a little glue and sprinkled on some red glitter.  I stamped the sentiment and once the glitter was dry I glued the image onto a red mat then adhered it to the card base with foam tape.

i compel you to have a fangtastic birthday

Dracula looks like he's using his best compelling gaze to wish you a FANGtastic birthday.  This new stamp set is part of our Monster Mash Up Collection, it's called "I Compel You" and it has matching dies.  There's another humorous vampire set that released this month called "Bite Me" it too has matching dies and both sets can mix-n-match.

Our Monster Mash Up Collection is definitely NOT just for Halloween but can be used for birthday's and just for fun cards all-year round.

I started off by heat embossing Dracula with black embossing powder then coloring him with Copic markers and using the matching "I Compel You" dies to him out.

A word of caution, you can see in the photo below above Dracula's left eye some black smudges. That's what happens sometimes when you use Copics and heat embossing (it can also damage the tips of your Copics).  It doesn't happen with all embossing powders or all colors it's really hit and miss but I haven't found a black embossing powder yet that doesn't smudge.  Let me know if you have found one.

For the bat I just stamped him with Memento ink and colored it in with copics and added some highlights with a white gel pen.  I love the tight grip Dracula has holding the balloon...he's so intense - lol.

franken bad hair day

It looks like Frank is having a hard time containing his excitement in this funny birthday card made with the new Whimsy Stamps release "Franken Bad Hair Day".

I colored Frank, the cake and the hat all with Copic markers.  Then I used the matching "Franken Bad Hair Day" die set to cut them out.  The set has several fun hats for Franks chronic bad hair situation.

I left a little white on the top of Franks forehead for it to look like the light was hitting in that direction but in the photo it looks like I missed a spot - ha!
I sponged on some yellow and orange in the background to make it kind of look like fire because (insert sarcasm here) you know just how much Frankenstein loves fire.

Frank is inside the black frame for a little depth and the cake is popped up on foam tape for added dimension.  Hope you like this set...there are some pretty funny sentiments in it and if you already own the set Franken Schmutz both sets can mix and match and compliment each other wonderfully.

you suck

YAY - It's here, it's here the new release from Whimsy Stamps! And I'm excited to introduce to you one of our two new vampires from our Monster Mash Up series.
He's a vampire with an attitude
You can also see the complimenting monster mash set "Dracula - I Compel You" here.

I colored the vampire using Copic markers then fussy cut him out but if you don't like hand cutting (I can hear you groaning) we have dies for this guy that include some really cool bats too.  You can check out the Dracula Bite Me dies here.

For the background I just sponged on some distress ink.  The shadow under Drac's feet was done by making a stencil with an oval die and lightly sponging on some grey ink.  And I popped Drac up on foam tape for dimension.

The border around the edge of the card was done using a new set by Faye Wynn-Jones called "FaDoodles" you can build all kinds of doodly borders with it...super cool!

I stamped the bats and the YOU SUCK sentiment last so I could position them just right.
