Introducing "EEK" the performing spider

I can almost hear the carnival music "doot, doot, doota loodle, doot, doot, dOOt, dOOt". I'm just having way too much fun can ya tell?! - lol

To make my card front I used the two largest dies in the Slimline ATC Windows die set to cut out the thin stitched black frame with rounded corners.

I also used the (second largest) Slimline ATC Window to die cut the SurReally Cool Halloween paper (LOVE LOVE) then glued it nestled inside the black frame. You don't have to do this step, you could just glue the uncut piece of patterned paper behind the frame but I like the look of it this way.

I used both of the same sheets of SurReally Cool Halloween paper that are in the pack for this card. One piece to nestle inside the black frame, and the second piece for hand cutting some of the individual elements. The individual elements I choose to hand cut were the little spider stand/stage, the entire bottom streamers, and also used one of the streamers as "Eek's little hat. All of these hand-cut pieces were popped up on foam tape.

Likewise I used that same second piece of paper to die cut the EEK! word. I also die cut the EEK! word two additional times from plain black card stock and stacked/glued them together then glued the patterned paper layer on top. The black cardstock beneath the patterned paper gives a nice shadow effects and more dimension.

I could have cut the sentiment from the glued in piece of paper (before gluing it down) but I figured I already cut into the second piece for the individual elements so I didn't want to take the risk of not getting the EEK! word exactly where I wanted it.

My finishing touch was die cutting the spider from the Spiders and Webs die set (love). I die cut him twice from plain black card stock and stacked and glued the two layers together. Then I cut him out one more time with a black glitter paper and glued that on top, added foam tape to the back and placed him where I wanted him within the scene to complete my card.

I totally love the SurREALLY COOL Halloween papers, I think it's my favorite pack of papers ever, and it makes killer Halloween cards super easy! What's your favorite Whimsy Stamps paper pack?

  1. Deb, your dancing "doot, doot, doot,... ;" spider is fantastic! I think that you came up with another spooktacular card! Those spiders that you designed for the die remind me of all the brown recluse variety that would creep into my apt when I lived in CO. I was constantly stomping on them to kill 'em: like I was dancing you might say! Creep it real!
