A piece of our Hearts

This Paws to Remember die coupled with the Paws to Remember stamp sentiment give you the flexibility to create a pet sympathy card for any pet, from a dog or cat to a horse or mouse.  It doesn't matter the size, they all make up pieces of our hearts.

The card base and mat under the stitched square look black in the photo but they are actually SU! Elegant Eggplant.

To get the streak effect on the die cut I used a white shimmer card stock and SU! reinkers to watercolor the streaks before I die cut it out.  It's much more shimmery in real life but hard to capture in the photo.

The heart was cut from the same watercolor streaked card stock and popped up with foam tape for dimension as was the rectangle.

Irreplaceable Mixed Media

The "Irreplaceable Friend" stamp set from my Rainbow Bridge stamp series  works really well for mixed media style cards.  I used to do a lot of mixed media many moons ago but this is my first try in a very long time...how do you think it turned out?

I started out with a piece of Basic Grey cardstock from my scrap box and stamped the background with the paws from "Furever in our Hearts" and an old newsprint stamp.
Then I added some watered down chalk paint. (plain old white chalk paint I had in the garage) with a cosmetic sponge.

While I was waiting for the chalk paint to dry I stamped several of the words from the "Irreplaceable Friend" sentiments onto both vanilla card stock and an old book page (old book pages are perfect for mixed media!).  I cut out each word without trying to keep my cut lines straight then used a black marker and marked around the edges of each word.

The last image I stamped was the border collie dog, then I glued down each of the words.  Everything is completely flat on this card. I do like dimension on mixed media cards but I felt this one just needed to be flat. My last step was to sponge on more distress ink in the areas that needed it.

So Very Sorry Cat Sympathy

Here's a clean and simple cat sympathy card from my newly released set called,
"Irreplaceable Friend" the sentiments and images in this set compliment the other three sets in my Rainbow Bridge Pet Sympathy Stamp Series.

I used the two biggest paws from the FurEver in our Hearts paw trail stamp to randomly stamp the background with SU! crumb cake ink.  Then I stamped the cat image and sentiment with black Versafine ink.

The heart is from the Paws to Remember die set and was cut out of the same card stock, I just sponged on some crumb cake ink and popped it up with foam tape.  I then matted onto vanilla card stock, tied on a linen thread bow and matted onto a black card base.

I love the cat and dog images in this set, they are both simple and elegant for sympathy cards or any occasion cards for animal lovers.

Zombie Hugs and Kisses

Here's the debut of an attractive friend of Joe Zombie, although I think this guy may not be as sharp as even Joe?!  Do you think perhaps that is why he's searching for a HUG ;o)?

This zombie is from the newly released "It's a Nail Biter" set and I stamped him onto the card first. Then I masked him off and stamped the back ground images from Vintage Backgrounds  and Distressed Backgrounds around him.

Then I used Copic markers to color the zombie and also for the ombre coloring on the ZOMBIE sentiment.  Oh and I also cut out his eye (ewe - lol) and popped it up with foam tape.

I think this lonely guy really needs a name, what do you think it should be?...He could really use a dentist too.

If Love Could Have Saved You

A pet sympathy card can mean so much to the person you send them to but sometimes it's hard to find the right words to say.  My new stamp set "Irreplaceable Friend" has several caring sentiments for you to choose from...I hope you like them.

For this card I stamped the background multiple times with SU! Basic Grey ink to make it look like a patterned paper.

Then I stamped the dog and cut it out with a stitched circle die.  The sentiment was die cut with the banner "Card Builder Many Thanks" die and I just trimmed off the left edge to make it flush with the card.
Both the circle and  banner cutouts are popped up on foam tape for added dimension.

YIKES! I missed your birthday!

This image is from my Whimsy Stamps set called "It's a Nail Biter".  It's quite appropriate for anyone being chased by zombies and it's also perfect for belated birthday cards.  There are several other fun sentiments that can go with this image and who'da thunk it, there's a zombie image in the set too.  Check it out and give your friends and family some laughs with this fun and unique stamp set.

I colored the image with Copic markers and used a black Copic multi liner to elongate the nail biters body just a little.

I didn't have just the right purple card stock for the frame border so I die cut the frame from white card stock and colored it with one of my purple Copic markers.

I used another Whimsy Stamp set called Vintage Backgrounds for the circles on the bottom layer stamped in a complimentary purple.  Thanks for stopping by :)

If I only had a brain...

...I wouldn't have forgotten your birthday!
The new Whimsy Stamps release for June is here -  YAY!  I'll kickoff my posts with my new belated birthday stamp set which is aptly named, "If I Only Had a Brain".  Of course "BRAINS" or lack there-of can apply to both scarecrows or zombies so I had to include both of them in this funny and versatile set.  I hope you get lots of the other giggles from it too.

I used a (really) old retired SU! texturz plate for the card base and sponged on some soft suede and espresso ink to both the base and oval.  I also added some linen-ish thread and tied a bow to add a little bit of a straw feel to the card.

I stamped the sentiment with Versafine ink and heat embossed the scarecrow with black embossing powder.  He was water colored with SU! more mustard and old olive ink, fussy cut and popped up on foam tape (as well as the the oval) for dimension.

Strawberry Fields Continued

Here's the first of the two thank you cards I made with the new Strawberry Fields stamp set.

I used a SU! dots embossing folder, linen thread and a baby blue gingham paper from my stash for the card base.  I cut a large stitched circle and stamped my bucket-o-strawberries using black Memento ink. TIP: It's important to use dye ink such as Memento for your Copic coloring other wise you could ruin your Copic markers and/or your project.

I colored the bucket and shadow using cool grey and warm grey Copics for contrast.  I just left the flowers white except the centers.  I used a B00 copic for the blue halo around the image, I love that look and use that specific marker often.

The tag was done by inking up the stamp with black ink then carefully wiping off just the strawberry with a baby wipe then used SU! markers to add the red and green.  And for a final touch I added a linen thread bow.

And here's the second card...
I used yellow gingham paper for this one and just cut out a rectangle from the center to put a frame around the white base.  You could also just add the white rectangle on top but I wanted just a little more depth.

I colored the full main image, and an extra strawberry from the main image plus a couple extra flowers and popped everything up on foam tape.  This card has a lot of dimension...you can almost pick one of the strawberries to eat :o).  Happy almost summer.

Stay tuned for the NEW WHIMSY STAMPS RELEASE on Wed. June 14th!

Birthday Wishes

I used my FurEver Friends die set and Magical Birthday Wishes stamp set to make this super quick, clean and simple birthday card.  This card would be great for any dog lover in your life or maybe it's a birthday card for any special dog in your life 😊.

I added a thin strip of pink(ish) glitter paper to the bottom of a white card base and die cut the heart from the same paper.  (the heart cuts out from the center of the paw in the FurEver Friends die set

I die cut the dog twice, once from black velvet paper and once from white glitter paper which also gives me a leftover white dog with a black collar that I can use on another project.
I  used some grey pastel chalk for the shadow and adhere the dog directly to the card.  I popped the heart up with foam tape.

To finish the card I stamped the sentiment with my versatile Magical Birthday Wishes stamp set that has complimenting dies too.   You can see another post here of basically the same card but as a pet sympathy card.
