Glamping Anyone?

glamping

/ˈglæmpɪŋ/

noun
1. a form of camping in which participants enjoy physical comforts associated with more luxurious types of holiday.  2. going camping but with glamour, a combination of the two words glamour and camping
I used the Whimsy stamp set "Campers Road Trip" and matching dies for this card along with the "Stitched Clouds" dies.  Whimsy Stamps is having a KILLER sale on these 3 items plus 2 other dies in their "June Bonus Bundle" you can get all the details here.

So for this card I sponged on the background with SU! bashful blue, sahara sand and brown sugar ink.  I used grey chalk for the shadows under the trees and camper.

The camper and trees were no line water colored with distress inks and the camper door was heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I offset the door just a little so it looks like it's open and I added a doorknob with a black Sharpie.  The trailer hitch is diecut from silver shimmer card stock to glam it up even more.

The clouds and window are white diamond card stock and I used black Stazon ink to stamp the blinds onto the diamond window.  The sentiment is from my set Magical Birthday Wishes and I popped up one tree, the small cloud and the camper on foam tape for lots of dimension.

Memorial Day With Deepest Sorrow

Lavender is not one of my favorite scents but I love how it looks, it's so pretty in a vase or pitcher and just breathtaking in a open field,  Denise Lynn captured that beauty when creating this Whimsy Stamps set called "Lovely Lavender".   And I thought it appropriate to post this sympathy card for Memorial Day weekend honoring all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

I used a retired SU! embossing folder for the border around the vanilla card base.  And die cut a simple oval for the image.

By using markers I was able to selectively color areas of the lavender flowers stamp with SU! elegant eggplant and old olive markers.  Then I stamped (slightly off the edge) onto the oval and without re-applying ink I stamped it again in a different area for a lighter result.  I repeated that process a second time but I stamped onto scrap paper first then stamped just the lighter one on the oval.  It's the one dark, two lighter stampings that gives a little depth to the flowers.

To finish the card I used the same SU! ink (Elegant Eggplant) and sponged color around the oval.  Then I stamped the sentiment from my "Deepest Sympathy" set using Old Olive SU! ink and put the oval on with foam tape for dimension.

I will always chews you

Here he is again my favorite zombie, "Joe Zombie" on the move again.  Want to see more of Joe...you can find him in this post too.

This card started out with one of my favorite watercolor techniques using distress ink on dampened watercolor paper then after it's dry splattering on plain water spots.
My original intention for this card was as serious sympathy card.  I had stamped a bunny (which is hiding behind Joe Zombie's head) and I didn't like how it looked.  So then I tried to balance it with the silhouette of flowers and that didn't work either.

A little frustrated and almost ready to trash the card I glanced around my desk and spotted a left over zombie in my junk pile. Yes, a zombie, that's just want this card needed :)!  So  I put him on some foam tape and popped him into the corner.  Then I stamped, colored and fussy cut the flower and now all I needed was the perfect sentiment.

Which I found in my (SNEAK PEAK) "It's a Nail Biter" stamp set releasing in June.  I actually love how this card turned out...a happy mistake.  Hope you like it too.

Rainbow Paws

Here's an easy card using my "FurEver in our Hearts" stamp set for another clean and simple pet sympathy card idea.

This card came together very quickly.  I just used distress ink (the small 1x1 cubes) to pat ink onto the paw stamp in different colors.  (TIP): The small cubes make it easy to ink up small areas of your stamps. but you could also sponge on the color for a similar effect.

Then I stamped the sentiment from "Rainbow Bridge" (The sentiments from these two sets are completely interchangeable with one another.) with Versafine black ink and cut a 1/4" strip off the side of the card and glued it onto a black card base. And that's it...a quick and easy card.

FurEver in our Hearts

Red, black and white is one of my all-time favorite color combos, it's elegant and classic and almost always perfect for pet cards

Both of these pet sympathy cards were quick to make using my "Rainbow Bridge" stamp set and dies.   There are 4 stamp sets and two die sets that coordinate and compliment one another in this series so they are a great value with countless options.  Look for new releases in both May and June.

It's hard to see in the photo but the white paw in the heart is a shimmer paper and so is the dog collar. And I sponged on a little SU! cherry cobbler ink around the edges of the SU! real red heart.  The strip at the bottom is a retired designer paper from SU!.

This particular sentiment is especially versatile.  The stamps "ALL" and "DOGS" are separate from the rest of the sentiment and included in the set is also the words "CATS" and "PETS" so this sentiment could be used for any pet sympathy card.

Rainbow Bridge II

For those of us who have had to endure the loss of a furry family member, you're probably familiar with the poem Rainbow Bridge, if not you can read this heart touching poem here.
This card was created using two sets from my pet sympathy stamp series, "Rainbow Bridge" and "FurEver in our Hearts".

I stamped the bridge with Stazon black ink onto white card stock and colored it with Prismacolor pencils.  Then I took a damp paintbrush and slightly blended the colors together then fussy cut it out without leaving any white edges.

For the sky I die cut 3 of the same sized Stitched Clouds out of post-it note and secured them to the white rectangle, then I sponged on SU! Bashful Blue ink around them.  I stamped the sentiment with black Versafine ink.

I used the paw trail from "FurEver in our Hearts" and inked up only the rows I wanted then stamped them in the sky area.  I stamped the same rows onto the bridge (before placing on the card) letting the last two paws stamp off the edge onto scrap paper.  I added foam tape to the back of the bridge and carefully lined up the bridge paws with the sky paws.

And here is another version with a heart border from our Card Builder Many Thanks die set.

Rainbow Bridge I

"Rainbow Bridge" is the first of four sets in my pet sympathy stamp series.  The Rainbow Bridge stamp series is dedicated to my 3 fur babies Howie, Oakie and Scruffy whom I lost all within 6 months of each other.

To make this card I  dampened watercolor paper with plain water and then added distress inks to create the rainbow background.  For the soft splatters I used a wet paintbrush to flick plain water onto the rainbow colors after they had dried.

While the splatters were drying I heat embossed the dog using Versamark ink and black embossing powder then I fussy cut him out.  I stamped the clouds and colored just the edges with a B00 Copic and fussy cut them too.  I stamped the sentiment with Versafine black ink.

I used a stitched rectangle to cut out the rainbow scene then added my doggie and clouds.  As a final touch I added a rhinestone to the dogs collar and glitter to the clouds.  Oh and I gave the dog dimension with foam tape and glued the clouds directly to the card.

Average Joe Zombie

Meet Joe Zombie the star of my Whimsy Stamps "Joe Zombie" stamp set.  There are some really funny sentiments in the set, especially if you have a slightly twisted sense of humor like mine ;).  It was a Pin on Pinterest that gave me the inspiration for this particular sentiment, you can see the pin here.

I water colored the background with distress ink on SU! Shimmer White card stock (love that stuff)  then splattered it with watered down plain white acrylic paint.

I colored Joe with Copic markers then fussy cut him out and popped him up with foam tape.  I added a little grey pastel chalk under his feet for a shadow too.

I stamped the sentiments and cut them down to fit the small white rectangle, matted it on black card stock and popped that up with foam tape too.

Hope he makes you laugh...he's certainly not your everyday average Joe. :)

Paws to Remember

This stamp set is part of my "Rainbow Bridge" series and is called "Paws to Remember".  I'm honored that it was chosen as the very first Whimsy Stamps CAS set.  I know that most of us stampers think of CAS as meaning Clean and Simple cards but at Whimsy Stamps CAS is all about YOU and stands for Customer Appreciation Stamp set.
You can get this 4x6 clear stamp set for FREE and a full month before it releases for general sale when you spend $75 or more at Whimsy Stamps.

I used Distress Inks with two different techniques to watercolor both of these cards.  But before I did any coloring I used painters tape to mask off a 1/4" all the way around the card that has a white border.  For both cards I used a copic multiliner marker to extend the hills all the way to the edges.

For the deep color saturation on the grass and trees I first sponged the color onto the dry watercolor paper then I used a wet paint brush to push the color around to where I wanted it. For the sky I wet the watercolor paper first then added color with a wet paintbrush for a softer, less saturated look.

Once dry I stamped the dogs and the sentiments and lastly I used a wet paintbrush to add ink for the shadows.
Sneak peek alert! The sentiment immediately above is a sneak peek of my June Rainbow Bridge release called "Irreplaceable".
