National Pet Adoption Day

April 30th is National Pet Adoption Day and Whimsy Stamps has an on-going campaign that donates $1USD to the Gulf Coast Humane Society for every Adopt Don't Shop Dogs and Adopt Don't Shop Cats stamp sets sold.
You can read more about this campaign HERE

I started out with a black card base and layered on a nutmeg colored matte from the Tiger 6x6 patterned paper pack.

I stamped the Adopt Don't Shop Dog image twice with Memento black ink and colored it with Copic markers.

I hand cut out 3 of the little doggies and popped each of them up on foam tape.

I heat embossed the sentiment then used one of the Quick Strips dies to cut it out and also popped that up on foam tape.

I die cut the largest banner from the Shaker Maker Banner die set from black card stock then added the main image on top to complete my card.
I hope you have a day filled with love from your furbabies.

Cone of Shame - Well Played Human

OHmiGosh, that face...the sentiments for the Cone of Shame stamp set almost wrote themselves!
I can't stop myself from laughing whenever I see that dog!

Of course the Puppy Paws background (which are now back in stock) was the perfect background to partner with the NEW Cone of Shame clear stamp set.

The dog and doghouse were stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. I seem to almost always have white feet on both cats and dogs when I color them, I guess I just really like sock feet :).

Once the coloring was completed I hand cut out both images, and added foam tape to the back of just the dog.

I used one of the NEW Wavy Stitched Squares dies as the black background and sponged on a little white ink for the shading under the dog and doghouse. I like how the images pop off the black, and it's such a cool die cut shape too.

I matted onto a red matte then onto a 5.5 x 5.5 card base

The sentiment (bahhaahaha) was stamped onto one of the Quick Strips dies and wrapped around to the inside of the card. You could also cut it off but I liked the wrapped look for this card.

Can't you almost feel this defeated guys resentment - LOL?!
Hope this gave you a good giggle :o)

Earth Day Build a Garden

HAPPY EARTH DAY!
Thank you Mother Earth for giving us such beautiful and valuable things that we literally could not live without.

I just love how many cute little scenes can be made with the Whimsy Stamps NEW Build a Garden die set. For today's card I have a little blue bird watering her flower garden.

I started off by cutting out a bunch of the flowers and leaves, and the strip on the bottom from the NEW Pretty Pastels 6x6 paper pack. I just love these new papers they are more like card stock weight and have such a pretty sheen to them.

I cut out the little birdie from white card stock and sponged on blue ink and used a black marker for his eye and beak.

The watering can was cut from gray paper then sponged with black ink and I added a little white pencil here and there

I arranged the flowers and added Enamel Dots to their centers and popped up a couple with foam tape. The little birdie and watering can are also popped up on foam tape. The sentiment is from last months Paper Door kit.

I hope you like the Build a Garden card and I hope you enjoy this beautiful EARTH DAY!

Holy Cross Stained Glass Technique

Early Easter Blessings to all who celebrate, and for everyone, I have a cool technique to share with you today using our glorious Holy Cross Stained Glass stamp.

This card may look complicated but it really isn't, it's quite easy to do but you have to be patient for each section to dry...that's the hard part.

I used the Whimsy Stamps Stained Glass Holy Cross rubber stamp today but all of the Whimsy Stamps Stained Glass Collection stamps are just screaming for this technique which is aptly named, you guessed it, the "stained glass technique".

The easiest and least messy way to achieve this technique is to use bottles of different colored glitter glue such as Stickles. The technique can also be done with a clear glue (like Glossy Accents) and adding glitter on top but it's a messier process so I prefer the glitter glues.

Step 1 - Cut a piece of acetate sheet quite a bit larger than the size of your stamp.

Step 2- Carefully stamp your image onto acetate with black solvent ink (such as Archival or  Stazon) and let it dry.

Step 3- Turn your image over, you'll be adding your glitter glue to the back of the acetate.

Step 4 - Start at the inner most part of the design and add the glitter glue color of your choice to just that section.

Step 5 - Skip the section that is directly next to the section you just colored and add glue to the third section, then to the fifth section, then the seventh etc. TIP: move the acetate not your hand because you can accidentally set your wrist into a blog of glitter (ask me how I know - ha).

Step 6 - Here's the hard part...set the image aside and wait an hour or more (especially if you put a thick coating) for it to dry. Once it's dry go back and fill in the rest of the image the same way then let the whole thing dry completely. I let mine dry over night.

Step 7 - Use scissors or a paper trimmer to cut the image out

Step 8 - Use a glue like Glossy Accents to adhere your stained glass art to a card base. I will often add it to a card matte first then add it to a card base. I also lay a book on top for a few hours so it adheres better/stronger.

Step 9 - Add your sentiment or leave it without one, this technique is so pretty on its own that it doesn't really need much or any sentiment

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I hope you have a blessed Easter and a great day.

Pig Pun Paper Door - Na-Na

These little piggy's from the NEW Pig Puns PAPER DOOR kit just crack me up, they are having so much fun in their pig puddles celebrating their youngness - lol!

The NEW Pig Pun PAPER DOOR has all kinds of coordinated products to make all kinds of cute piggy cards. And for this card I coupled the kit with the NEW Whimsy Stamps PeekaBoo Window 4 die which fits the piggies AND the flies perfectly.

These little flies are just too funny to me, I stamped them and the piggies and colored them with Copic markers:
E50, E51, E33, E25, E11
R20
BG000

I'm loving the designs and feel of the heavy weight papers included in our kits. For this card I used one of the solid browns and tans but later this week I'll be posting cards using some of the super cute patterned ones too.

Who do you have on your birthday card list that you want to say Na-Na too that you're younger than they are - lol?!

Whimsy Stamps and WOW Embossing Powder Blog Hop

WELCOME to the Whimsy Stamps and WOW! Embossing Powder Blog Hop!

Whimsy Stamps - $25 gift certificate for anything in the Whimsy Stamps store

WOW! Embossing Powders - 6 powders of your choosing along with a carry case to store your embossing powders safely in

For your chance to win you must leave a comment on each blog post along the hop
(see list below).

The winners will be chosen at random during the week of April 22nd from all the comments left on the posts. This hop is open for both the USA and internationally.

Have FUN hoping along and ENJOY all the inspiration both teams have created for you.
And now for my first card...

I started out with five pieces of plain black card stock each of them cut at 5.5 x 4.25 in size
For one of them I used the Whimsy Stamps Wonky Window 1 die to cut out the plain black frame. You can toss the black inside pieces or save them for another project.

I used my Misti to stamp the Flower Puffs background onto each of the other 4 pieces of black card stock with Versamark ink then heat embossed each of them with different colors of WOW!  Embossing Powders...White Puff, Metaline Violet, Fluorescent Blue and Fluorescent Green

I glued the full white embossed piece onto a black card base, then glued the plain black Wonky Window frame directly on top.

I used the Wonky Window 1 die and cut out all 3 sheets of the fluorescent colored backgrounds making sure I had each one in the same orientation and so the pattern would line up when pieced together.

Once they were all die-cut I chose the pieces/color arrangement I liked best and glued the blue, green, and violet pieces inside the frame directly on top of the white. And BONUS...there are several left over pieces and really cool frames that you can make additional cards with too!

For the final touch I used the smallest of the NEW Wavy Stitched Squares for the sentiment and adhered that in the largest window opening using foam tape for dimension.  The sentiment is from the NEW Cloud Animals clear stamp set.

And now for my second card...

I used mostly the same products on both of these cards and the WOW! Fluorescent Embossing Powders look so cool on black I just had to use them again.

So I stamped the same Flower Puffs background with versamark ink and Fluorescent Pink EP.

For the bottom of the card I used the Whimsy Stamps Brushed Stripes background on black card stock with WOW! White Puff embossing powder. I LOVE pink and black and white together, it's one of my favorite color combos.

For the sentiment I used a couple of the bigger sized dies from the Wavy Stitched Squares, this is a really fun die set that is a nice change from plain ol' squares. And the sentiment is from the Beaucoup Bouquet clear stamp set that has a nice variety of any occasion sentiments especially good for your floral cards too.

Which one do you like best?...

Don't forget to click on the word bubble (at the very bottom of this post) and leave a comment for your chance to win one of the Whimsy Stamps or WOW! Embossing Powder prizes.
And be sure to leave a comment at every stop along the hop.
HAVE FUN!
